Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy involves topical application of Levulan® to the treatment area, a brief waiting period (for drug absorption) and then activation of the drug with a 420 nm (blue light) photorejuvenation treatment. This treatment is temporarily very photosensitizing - patients must avoid the sun completely for 48 hours to avoid rapid sunburn.

While significant improvement may result from a single treatment, a series of treatments may be necessary for optimum results.
