Sarasota Rhinoplasty

Sarasota RhinoplastyRhinoplasty is surgery to improve the contour and appearance of the nose. The initial nasal surgery is referred to a primary rhinoplasty.

Important considerations include patient preferences and presence of any associated nasal airway problems. Patients typically wear a splint on the outside of the nose for one week after surgery. The initial healing period is one week, typical of other facial plastic surgery procedures. While patients can get back to work or school after the first week, care must be taken to avoid any accidental trauma to the nose during the initial 6 weeks after surgery (to allow time for solid healing of delicate bony structures). The nasal tip and the area above the nasal tip takes the longest to heal with a gradual decrease in swelling occurring over 3 to 6 months after surgery.

Form and function of the nose are tightly linked. Function can be diminished during the pursuit of improved shape and appearance can be worsened while attempting to improve function. Functional rhinoplasty is designed to improve the function of the nose while maintaining or improving the appearance of the nose. Functional nasal surgery may involve straightening the nasal septum, "trimming" the turbinates, repair of the nasal valve(s), etcetera.

Cosmetic Surgery SarasotaRevision rhinoplasty is surgery to refine or improve the shape of the nose after a previous rhinoplasty. The surgery may address problems caused by or not adequately addressed during the original surgery.
