Hyperpigmentation Sarasota Wrinkle Treatment Sarasota Sarasota Sun Spot Treatment

Patients with wrinkles, prominent skin creases, certain types of scars, various pigmentation problems and/or sun damage may benefit from facial skin resurfacing procedures.

Important considerations include previous surgery, skin type, prior use of Accutane, prior irradiation, etcetera.

Methods of facial skin resurfacing include:

Dermabrasion is useful for treatment of isolated scars, acne scarring involving much larger areas and for smoothing out deep skin creases.

Medium chemical peels effectively reduce (help to even out) areas of increased skin pigmentation, rejuvenate sun-damaged skin (including pre-cancerous lesions) and smooth fine wrinkle lines.

Laser Skin Peel is one of the leading cosmetic procedures in the United States. The process utilizes a laser to decrease the appearance of lines, scars and wrinkles as well as improve overall skin texture and tone (pigment).

Sciton's Contour™ skin resurfacing system utilizes two erbium-YAG lasers to enable a range of treatments from a more superficial MicroLaserPeel™ to full-strength laser skin resurfacing.   A short pulse erbium-YAG laser is used to ablate (remove) the upper layers of skin while a long pulse erbium-YAG laser is used to heat the collagen in the deeper layers of skin. The system is extremely versatile with the ability to use the short or long pulse lasers individually or simultaneously to provide a treatment plan customized for each patient, and with an extremely low untoward side-effect/complication rate compared to CO2 and other lasers.

The MicroLaserPeel™ is very effective for improving fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture and pigmentation as well as lifting off areas of sun damage. The procedure uses a short pulse erbium-YAG laser to ablate (remove) the upper layers of skin cells to yield results far more effective than possible with microdermabrasion or light chemical peels. Depending on treatment depth, "downtime" for recovery can be as short as a weekend. The procedure is generally completed using topical anesthesia and nerve blocks.

Pre-treatment of you skin with certain topical agents and/or medications may accelerate the healing process slightly.

Appropriate skin care following your procedure will help you to maintain your result. We encourage our patients to discuss ongoing maintenance skin care needs with Dr. Holcomb and one of our licensed medical aestheticians.
