Patients with prominent facial lines may benefit from Botox® Cosmetic injections. Common treatment areas include frown lines, crow's feet lines and horizontal forehead lines. Also known as hyperdynamic facial lines, these lines result in part from repeated contraction of underlying facial muscles.

Botox® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved medical treatment for smoothing out hyperdynamic frown lines. The medication works by temporarily weakening the muscles responsible for the hyperdynamic skin creases. The medication typically works for a period of 3 to 4 months. A small percentage of patients who initially respond to the treatment do not respond upon subsequent treatments (because they develop antibodies against the medication).

Some patients will have a better overall result if filler materials or laser skin resurfacing are performed following Botox® Cosmetic injections.

Botox® Cosmetic treatment can also improve lip lines and drooping at the corners of the mouth.
