Procedures & Services Facial Sculpting Center New Look. New Technology. New Possibilities. Most people also experience volume changes in the lower eyelid with increasing fullness or puffiness in some areas (related to forward movement of orbital fat) and increasing hollowness in the tear trough and orbital rim areas (related to downward migration of fat normally present under the eye muscle). Along with changes in deep soft tissue and bone structure the skin experiences progressive loss of collagen content and elasticity leading to wrinkle formation, laxity and ultimately sagging. Dr. Holcomb’s approach to this problem was to help develop a revolutionary new laser-assisted facial contouring procedure (AccuLift™). The procedure enables selective removal of small volumes of fat in the mid- and lower face and also induces significant tightening of the skin in the treatment areas. Goals for facial sculpting include restoration of normal youthful contours for the lower eyelid, midface and cheeks and jawline and neck. Results depend on individual findings and the selected treatment(s). With the innovation and new possibilities in facial contouring that AccuLift™ brings Dr. Holcomb has found that results in some patients are enhanced with combination approaches. Examples of useful combination approaches that include AccuLift™:
Dr. Holcomb anticipates that long term facelift results may be improved by the AccuLift™ procedure – removal of midface and jowl fat during facelift may prevent or minimize recurrent gravitational jowling and nasolabial fold fullness. Dr. Holcomb is on the leading edge regarding use of fat melting (lipolysis) lasers to improve and refine facial contouring results. In 2009, Dr. Holcomb authored a scientific paper describing this technique: Holcomb JD. Facelift Adjunctive Techniques: Skin Resurfacing and Volumetric Contouring. Facial Plast Surg Clin N Am.
