Face & Neck Lift
Face and neck lift is an integral part of facial rejuvenation.
The procedure involves neck contouring with liposuction and/or muscle tightening (platysmaplasty) and direct tightening of the lower face with elimination of jowling. The procedure has a more indirect effect on the mid-face area, but generally enhances cheek volume and softens the transition area (nasolabial fold or smile line area) that separates the cheek and mouth areas.
Facial aging often affects tissue volume at multiple levels. At the skin level, decreased collagen thickness and loss of elasticity lead to formation of wrinkles and sagging. Beneath the skin, aging of the mid- and lower face generally involves redistribution of fat volume – with increasing hollowness of the mid-cheek and increasing fullness of the nasolabial fold and jowl as fat migrates downward in the face.
Dr. Holcomb is on the leading edge regarding use of fat melting (lipolysis) lasers to improve and refine facelift results. Lipolysis laser treatment during facelift procedures appears to improve results at the jawline, midface and neck. Some facelift patients may also benefit from separate procedures that further soften the nasolabial fold (midface lift or filler injections), increase cheek volume (cheek implant or filler injections) or add length to the chin (chin implant).
