What is EXILIS?
EXILIS is a non-invasive radiofrequency treatment from BTL Industries. EXILIS enables safe, effective and comfortable radiofrequency aesthetic treatment for use on the face, neck and body. EXILIS feels similar to hot stone massage therapy – no pain, no down time and no pre- or post- treatment medications are needed so that you can resume all your normal activities immediately following treatment. A session for typical treatment areas generally lasts under 30 minutes and 4 treatment sessions are typically performed for each treatment area. Multiple body regions may be treatment in a single extended session.
EXILIS Body Sculpting
Treatment areas include the arms, upper back (eg bra line area), love handles, upper and lower abdomen, hips, thighs. The EXILIS body applicator delivers radiofrequency energy very evenly using Energy Flow Control software to eliminate energy peaks that have been associated with pain with other older radiofrequency technologies. The body applicator includes integrated contact skin cooling to protect the skin while energy is delivered deep into the tissues below the skin. In addition, an integrated thermometer continuously monitors the skin temperature so that the desired elevation in tissue temperature is achieved and excessive heating and complications are avoided. The treatment area will become warm and possibly pink during the treatment – these effects gradually subside after the treatment. Over time the tissue response includes reduction of the fat layer below the skin and tissue tightening resulting in gradual reduction in bulges and fullness as well as circumferential reduction of the trunk, abdomen, arms and thighs.

EXILIS CRT Facial Remodeling
For the face and neck a separate applicator (small hand piece) uses a special method of energy delivery that reduces the amount of energy needed and eliminates the need for cooling during treatment. CRT or Collagen Refill Technology promotes facial remodeling by disrupting and remodeling existing collagen and stimulating new collagen formation. This process can soften deep wrinkles and improve the contours of the face and neck.
Who should not have EXILIS therapy?
The following conditions preclude treatment with radiofrequency energy:
Pregnancy.
Cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator.
Any implanted electronic device.
Infection.
Recent surgery at desired treatment area.
Lymphedema (abnormal swelling of an extremity).
How does EXILIS differ from CoolSculpting?
EXILIS uses radiofrequency energy to gently heat tissues and mobilize fat and promote new collagen formation. CoolSculpting uses cold therapy to cause selective elimination of fat cells (adipocytes).
Can EXILIS and CoolSculpting be combined for enhanced results?
It is very likely that results will be further improved by staging (different days) CoolSculpting and EXILIS treatments in the same body region (by removing some of the fat storage cells (adipocytes) with CoolSculpting and mobilizing fat out the remaining fat cells with EXILIS).
Recommendations following EXILIS treatment include:
Increased water intake (at least 2 liters daily)
Light physical activity
Low fat diet
Lymphatic drainage treatments
