Procedures & Services Aesthetic Light and Laser Center Fractional Laser Skin Rejuvenation Fractional laser skin resurfacing helps you reclaim your skin’s youthful texture and tone, leaving you with a lasting healthy glow. Fractional lasers use multiple microscopic laser beams (microbeams) to treat the skin. “Fractional” means that a relatively small percentage (10 – 30%) of the skin is treated compared to traditional resurfacing (where 100% of the skin is treated). Fractional lasers heat or vaporize (remove) very small columns of skin at the time of treatment. Since much of the skin remains uninjured, healing is very rapid after fractional laser resurfacing treatment. Advantages of fractional laser treatment include rapid healing, the ability to treat darker skin types and a low likelihood of complications typical of traditional laser skin resurfacing treatments. Dr. Holcomb uses 3 different types of fractional skin resurfacing lasers in the Aesthetic Light and Laser Center: CO2 (10,600 nm) – eCO2™ (Lutronic) - healing in 4 – 7 days; most improvement of skin laxity and wrinkles; excellent results in a single treatment (the eCO2 fractional laser is able to penetrate deeply into the skin to obtain significant contraction and tightening) Erbium Glass (1550 nm) – MOSAIC™ (Lutronic) - downtime limited to mild redness and slight swelling for hours to overnight; excellent improvement of photodamage and skin texture; series of treatments necessary Erbium YAG (2940 nm) – ProFractional™ XC (Sciton) - healing in 3 – 5 days, excellent improvement of skin tone and surface texture, less improvement of skin laxity and wrinkles; series of treatments necessary Many factors influence the results possible with fractional laser skin resurfacing including but not limited to:
