BroadBand Light™ Photorejuvenation
For treatment of sun damaged skin, age spots and redness

Broadband Light (BBL™) technology utilizes the power of pulsed light to improve a variety of skin conditions. Light of various wavelengths is preferentially absorbed by the target (unwanted blue, brown, red, purple pigment) and converted to heat. This preferential heating enables dramatic improvement of pigment disturbances (e.g. dyschromia, hyperpigmentation, melasma), sun damage and vascular lesions (e.g. port wine stains, hemangiomas, rosacea, angiomas, telangiectasia).

With BBL™ technology different wavelengths of light are selected by using interchangeable filters that are recognized by the smart control system. Available filters include:

  • 420 nm - visible blue light used to activate Levulan® during photodynamic therapy (see Levulan® Photodynamic Therapy)
  • 515 nm - visible yellow light used to target brown-black pigment (solar lentigenes or sun spots, hyperpigmentation, etc)
  • 560 nm - visible yellow-green light used to target surface redness and vascular lesions
  • 590 nm - visible green-orange light used to target deeper vascular lesions
  • 640 and 695 nm - visible orange light used for reduction of unwanted hair
  • 800 - 1400 nm - infrared (invisible) light used to gently heat collagen in the deeper skin layers (see SkinTyte™ Skin Tightening)

The system also incorporates powerful cooling technology to ensure that the treatment areas safe and cool.

The most common treatment areas include the face, neck, hands, chest, shoulders and extremities - areas that are typically most exposed to the damaging effects of the sun. While a series of treatments are typically required for optimum results dramatic improvement is possible with a single treatment.
